Longfonds policy
Our mission is to eliminate lung disease and contribute to healthier, happier lives for people living with lung disease. We are committed to creating a world where everyone can breathe freely. To bring a world without lung disease closer, we focus on achieving meaningful and lasting impact.
The impact we aim to achieve
- To achieve our ambitions, we bring leading researchers together. Learn more about our research policy. Over the past sixty years, Longfonds has helped drive major advances in lung research (in Dutch), contributing to new treatments and medicines, a stronger patient voice in research, and improvements in pulmonary rehabilitation.
- People with lung disease should be able to participate fully in society (in Dutch). Having control over your own life is an important part of this. We support people with lung disease by providing reliable information, practical advice and tools to help them manage their condition and daily lives.
- Everyone should have the opportunity to live a healthy life (in Dutch): free from tobacco smoke and with access to healthy air (in Dutch). No one should become ill because of the air they breathe.
Longfonds advocates for the interests of people with lung disease. We work towards better care and a better quality of life, and ensure that people with lung disease have a voice. This means actively involving them in research, projects and decisions that affect their lives.
Governance and supervision
Longfonds is both a health charity and a patient organisation. While these roles are often separate, we combine them. This is one of our key strengths: people are at the heart of our work, and science is our foundation. Our Executive Board and Supervisory Board (in Dutch) oversee the organisation and ensure that your support is used responsibly.
